New Footage of Michael Jackson Pepsi Commercial Accident

The 25 year old footage of Michael Jackson’s hair catching on fire has surfaced courtesy of Us magazine. Pepsi is being blamed for his death because the 1984 accident started his addiction to painkillers. This raises the question is Pepsi really to blame? Where does personal responsibility come in to play? The unfortunate truth is that he became addicted and rather then treating the addiction the people around him enabled him. Had his numerous doctors not prescribed the medication or his family and friends forced him to be in rehab he would still be with us. I don’t blame Michael for becoming addicted to painkillers. Its an addiction, these things happen. But perhaps instead of putting the blame on Pepsi perhaps we should take a long hard look at who was around him and what motives they had to keep enabling him.

Space shuttle Endeavor finally lifts off

After several failed attempts due to weather the space shuttle Endeavor finally lifted off. It is on its way to the International Space Station to join the crew already there. The launch just so happens to be the 40th year anniversary of the launch of the first manned moon landing. Several pieces of foam struck the shuttle as it was lifting off. This is the same thing that happened to the doomed space shuttle Colombia. Heres hoping everything goes ok when the shuttle comes back to earth.

Sears tower to be Renamed Willis Tower

The company who now resides within the Sears Tower decided to rename it. The London based Willis Group holding, an insurance broker is naming the tower Willis Tower. I understand that they own the tower now but it’s a national landmark. There is a petition on Facebook right now that has gathered strength but I think the company has its mind set. Goodbye old friend, I knew you well.

Taliban threaten to Kill US Soldier held captive

Taliban commanders are threatening to kill a United States soldier they are holding captive unless the United States stops its advance on two northern afghan provinces. Perhaps if our troops were not spread so thin thanks to an unnecessary war with Iraq, the war in Afghanistan would have been over a long time ago. The Afghan people themselves need to start standing up and taking a stand against the Taliban. They have been liberated for years but still have no effective police or government. Once again it’s America to the rescue, playing the part of police officers of the world.

23 quadrillion-dollar pack of cigarettes

A gas station in Manchester NM charged a man 23 quadrillion dollars for a pack of cigarettes. What I find more surprising is that the bank actually let it go through and then charged him a 15 dollar NSF fee. Guess they figured he was good for the money. I love his comment during the interview. “ I thought somebody bought Europe with my credit card.” …..And I thought cigarettes were expensive at 5 dollars a pack…..

Madoff sent to prison

Bernard Madoff starts his life today as prisoner 61727-054 at the federal penitentiary in Butner, NC. Madoff's ponzi scheme defrauded investors out of billions and bankrupted Charities. Madoff is serving 150 years for fraud, as well as many other charges. Nov. 14, 2139 is the date he is scheduled to be released. The money is most likely gone and investors are just outta luck. Or maybe he still has it? In that case its possible he could get out of prison alive....granted he use his ill gotten money to freeze his head and put it on some poor unsuspecting person in the future... Good luck to you Mr. Madoff, if I were you I would prolong death as long as possible because we all know where your headed when you die.

Scare on Southwest Airlines

132 people aboard Southwest Airlines flight 2294 were forced to land in Charleston W Virginia when a football sized hole opened up in the plane during mid-flight. The plane was last inspected in January of 2009. All of Southwest Airlines' planes were rechecked causing some delays. This kind of thing seems ridiculous to me. Why was the plane last inspected 7 months ago? Airplanes log thousands of miles everyday and should be checked frequently. Nobody was injured on the flight but I can just imagine what Southwest's response would have been if they were.... "uh we checked it 7 months ago....isn't that enough?"

Sotomayer

Sonia Sotomayer, The supreme court Justice nominee, has gotten herself in some hot water due to a comments made during 1994, 1999, 2001, 2002, and 2004 speeches. The line reads along the lines of "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would, more often than not, reach a better conclusion." This sparked outrage and racism from Republicans. Yes thats right Racism claims by Republicans.... Keep in mind these are the same individuals that called Obama a Muslim as well as insinuated he was not an American, oppose gay rights, and a woman's right to choose. Apparently it was OK to beat and use fire hoses on African Americans in the 60s but she is the racist.... Sotomayer apologized for the comments she made and said they were taken out of context. Her point was that a persons experiences influences how they see the world. This is not a racist remark but rather one that illustrates a belief that she is going to draw on her experience growing up as a minority to make sound decisions. I do not see the harm in that. This is just another tactic by the Republican Party who want things to stay the same so the rich can get richer and the poor get poorer.

NYC Tweet during bank robbery

P1 TWITTER

When your bank gets held up what should you do? well for Annmarie Dooling its tweet it of course. Now to be fair the cops had already been called and she didn't start till after they had the situation in hand. The first tweet was "My bank was just held up - with me in it," Then over the next hour "I'm locked in the bank still ... police just arrived ... they wont let us leave the bank ... i didn't even notice and he was two people in front of me ... can we GO?!" She suffered an assault of fellow tweeters calling her stupid and kill yourself. I find the whole thing just funny. Had this gone on during the actual robbery then I could see the negativity, but after the fact it just comic gold. Twitter is here to stay and as long as its here then this kind of thing is going to go on.....get over it.
